Trent is a sophomore majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Geology. His summer research project consisted of stream sampling – collecting/identifying macroinvertebrates, and also collecting periphyton samples that were brought back to be filtered, weighed, and combusted. It also included a lot of electrofishing! He has participated in both backpack and boat electrofishing and learned how to identify many species of fish and also how to take fin clips for a genetics project. He hopes to continue working in the Booth lab through undergrad and learn as much as I can. After undergrad he plans on applying for grad school in fish ecology, and hopefully can get into a project working with protected species. After grad school, he would really enjoy working for a government agency that helps to protect and manage protected fish species (Paddlefish are awesome!).
